Functional medicine is an approach to healthcare that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of diseases rather than just treating symptoms. In functional medicine, symptoms are looked at as merely an indicator of a deeper, more complex problem that needs to be addressed. It takes a holistic view, considering how genetics, environment, lifestyle, and nutrition interact with each individual’s health. Functional medicine practitioners aim to understand the unique biochemical makeup of each patient, often using advanced lab testing and detailed personal histories to inform treatment plans.
The goal is to restore balance to the body’s systems and support the body's ability to heal itself by emphasizing preventive care, nutrition, stress management, and other lifestyle interventions. It often blends conventional medicine with alternative therapies.
Functional Reset NP provides care for patients experiencing gastrointestinal issues, hormonal concerns (women only), and metabolic & weight loss challenges. Common ailments addressed include fatigue, food sensitivities, GI infections/imbalances (or dysbiosis), hormonal imbalances, weight loss resistance, vitamin deficiencies, and cardiometabolic concerns such as obesity, insulin resistance, and prediabetes/diabetes. We can discuss your specific health concerns during a Discovery Call to see if I can help!
Functional Reset NP currently works with patients virtually via telemedicine in the greater Oregon region.
Not at all! Virtual assessments are conducted via our virtual office space and do not limit our access to diagnostic testing. Most testing is completed at home or in the lab. We will order the test kit(s) to be drop shipped to your home (usually within several business days) or provide you with the correct paperwork to complete the testing at your local lab.
Results are sent directly to your provider and will be reviewed together during a follow-up visit.
To offer patients the best care without the limitations often imposed by insurance companies, Functional Reset NP is direct cash-pay, virtual clinic only. We gladly accept FSA and HSA cards.
We do not accept Medicare for payment but we can see Medicare patients with the completion of a simple ABN form.
Please visit the SERVICES page to review the fees for initial consultation, follow up visits, and access to the Functional Reset membership.
Fees for laboratory testing are not included in the cost of the visit and largely vary by specific testing ordered, but costs will always be discussed before proceeding.
Functional Reset NP takes a root-cause, holistic approach to health, focusing on identifying when and why your issues began. By addressing the underlying cause, you can resolve your health challenges without resorting to temporary fixes or “chasing symptoms”, which is often the downfall of conventional medicine and a typical 15 minute office visit. Your provider understands the body’s intricate interconnectedness, so their approach combines dietary guidance, lifestyle adjustments, and targeted supplementation to get you back to feeling not just good but great! Functional Reset NP does not manage general medical needs, however, and for that you will still need to visit your PCP.
Results in functional medicine can vary widely based on the individual and the specific health concern. It's important to understand that functional medicine is a holistic and long-term approach to health. Some individuals may experience significant changes within a few months, while others may notice more gradual improvements as we delve into the underlying causes of their health concerns. For the metabolic optimization focus, patients typically start seeing noticeable changes within 8-12 weeks. Our commitment at Functional Reset NP is to work collaboratively with each individual to achieve sustainable and positive health outcomes.
Prior to your initial consultation, all intake paperwork must be completed and a credit card will be placed on file within your patient portal. If the paperwork is not completed a minimum of 72 hours prior to your scheduled appointment, your appointment will need to be rescheduled. This is so your provider has enough time to thoroughly review your information prior to your visit so they can have a base understanding of your health and can focus on listening to you during your time together.
No, at this time Functional Reset NP does not work with patients under 18 years old.
